Editor's Note: This story has been updated to clarify how many teams have won a single World Series.
(NEXSTAR) — While the Los Angeles Dodgers will look to repeat their World Series success of 2024 this season to become the first team since the 1999 New York Yankees to win back-to-back championships, other MLB teams are still vying for their first victory.
All 30 active MLB teams have at least appeared in the World Series, with one exception: the Seattle Mariners. Since joining the American League in 1977 as an expansion team, the Mariners have appeared in three league championship games but never won.
In 2022, Seattle was swept in the league divisional series by the Houston Astros, who would go on to beat the Philadelphia Phillies in the World Series.
There are, of course, other teams that have yet to bring home the Commissioner's Trophy.
Here are the MLB teams still hoping to win the World Series, in order of the last time they appeared in the Fall Classic.
Seattle Mariners: Never
Milwaukee Brewers: 1982
The Brewers appeared just once in the World Series, where they fell to the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 7 in 1982.

San Diego Padres: 1998
San Diego lost to the Yankees after they failed to win any games in the 4-game series. It was their second trip to the Fall Classic after losing out to the Detroit Tigers in 1984.
Colorado Rockies: 2007
On their first trip to the World Series, the Rockies fell to the Boston Red Sox without winning a game in the 4-game series.

Tampa Bay Rays: 2020
The Rays fell 4-2 against the Dodgers. Twelve years earlier, in their first World Series, the Rays lost to the Philadelphia Phillies in a five-game series.
There is hope for these teams, of course. In 2023, the Texas Rangers secured their first Commissioner's Trophy in their third World Series appearance. They toppled the Arizona Diamondbacks, four games to one.
The Rangers are one of a handful of teams that have won just one Fall Classic. The others are the Washington Nationals (while the Senators won in 1924, that franchise later became the Minnesota Twins), the Los Angeles Angels, and the Diamondbacks.
The New York Yankees have both the most World Series appearances and the best record, going 27-14 overall -- that means the Bronx Bombers have appeared in more than one-third of the 120 World Series that have been played.
A dozen MLB teams have winning records in the Fall Classic. Of those, four have won all of their appearances: the Blue Jays (2-0), the Marlins (2-0), the Nationals (1-0), and the Angels (1-0).
