GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) - The Green Bay Packers and the Tennessee Titans have reportedly agreed to a trade that would send a 2025 seventh-round pick for quarterback Malik Willis.
In a surprising move, Willis will reportedly join the Packers and compete for the backup quarterback position behind Jordan Love.
While playing for the Liberty Flames, Willis won the 2020 Dudley Award, presented to the top NCAA football player in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Titans selected him in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
Willis never found his footing in Tennessee, playing in eight games in 2022, completing 31 passes with zero touchdowns and three interceptions. In 2023, Willis only saw the field for three games, completing four of five passes.
While Willis has struggled early in his NFL career, he will have a chance at a fresh start with the Packers and could carve into a nice backup for Jordan Love, who signed a massive deal earlier in the offseason.
The 25-year-old is under contract until 2026 when he becomes an unrestricted free agent.
