APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) - The FVA is stockpiled with talent. Neenah, Kimberly and Hortonville all rank in the top ten in division one. But not too far behind is a surging Appleton East squad, spearheaded by its leading scorer Lilly Meulemans. The starting guard averages over 15 points per game, which is 5th in the conference.
The junior is having a career season up to this point, which is even more impressive considering the spot she was in just a year ago. Meulemans suffered an ACL injury in early February of 2023, ending her sophomore basketball season, and forcing her to miss out on soccer in the fall. But thanks to intense physical therapy and a desire to get back to competition, the now-junior was cleared by doctors the same day as the Appleton East's first basketball practice prior to the season.
