ASHWAUBENON, Wis. (WFRV) - This season's girl's state tournament features plenty of Northeast Wisconsin squads vying to add more state titles to their mantle, and for some, a piece of hardware that the school has yet to win.
For Xavier, the Hawks are making just their third state tournament appearance and are still in search of their first gold ball. Although it wasn't pretty from the jump, the Bay conference champs rallied behind 20 points out of freshman Elle Krull in a 56-52 semifinal win over Kettle Moraine Lutheran.
In division four, the defending champions from Laconia are on their way to the state title game following a 67-49 drubbing over the Prairie School. Finely Morgan and Molly Duel chipped in a combined 31 points off the bench, which complemented Tierney Madigan's 20, en route to another state tournament victory.
